A Modern Urban Luminaire, Thoughtfully Evolved

Candela has long been recognized as a benchmark in contemporary urban lighting. Originally designed by Gonzalo Milà with a human-centered philosophy, its slim oval silhouette and restrained presence have helped shape public spaces around the world by illuminating streets, paths, and plazas in ways that support how people move, gather, and experience the city after dark.
Candela returns thoughtfully evolved for the demands of modern urban environments. The redesigned luminaire preserves the visual clarity and elegance that defined the original while introducing enhanced performance, expanded configuration options, and refined engineering to meet current lighting standards and sustainability goals.
At the core of Candela’s evolution is adaptability. New pole materials and mounting options, multiple arm lengths, and updated attachment details allow for greater flexibility across a wide range of applications, from quiet residential streets to active urban corridors and civic spaces. A lighter-weight housing, durable materials, and carefully considered construction support long-term performance in demanding environments.
Candela’s optical system has also been expanded, offering a wide range of lumen packages, distributions, and drive currents to precisely match site conditions. Available color temperatures, including PC Amber, 2200K, 2700K, 3000K, and 4000K, allow designers to balance visual comfort, character, and environmental sensitivity. Optional backlight control further refines illumination, minimizing spill and supporting responsible lighting practices.
Throughout its redesign, Candela remains grounded in its original intent to deliver purposeful light that enhances the public realm without calling attention to itself. The result is a versatile, resilient luminaire that feels equally at home in established streetscapes and forward-looking urban projects, an enduring design reconsidered for today.
